MAINTAINING YOUR RANGE HOOD
Welcome to your new life with a copper range hood(brass or any other raw material open to oxidation). Just want to let you know its going to be the easiest thing to maintain. Let me just tell you why and how it works:
- your copper range hood has a clear coat of very durable lacquer that is tarnish resistant
- since your patina is neutralized and frozen from open environment, you don’t have to worry about it ever changing color
- no acid chemicals or abrasive materials needed in the cleaning process
- no waxing or additional lacquering needed to maintain
Cleaning process:
- use warm water, dish soup and soft sponge to remove any grease or dust
- use washing motion in similar pattern as the texture of hood
- pat dry once finished washing
- you’re all set!
Preventative maintenance:
Although its not necessary but recommended to give lacquer finish some rejuvenation and color with some polishing wax. You can use any good car wax to do so
- apply with soft sponge or towel
- spread in the same motion as texture of range hood
- let it dry
- remove wax with clean towel
- you’re all set!
Scratches:
If you’re range hood has a scratch patina deep:
- add a little bit of vinegar mixed with salt to the wound
- let it heal or patina up to 48 hours or more
- add wax to protect the cured area
